Kyrkovalet: Den nationalistiska kyrkan / Church elections: The nationalist church
On the 18 September elections will be held for all levels of the Swedish Church, the former state church of Sweden of which still more than 70 per cent of the population are members. But why is it called the SWEDISH church? And why does the church play the nationalist card? Why not a Scanian or a Nordic church? Not the least in the Öresund region, more of Scandinavian cooperation would seem natural. Continue reading

GP skriver om självstyre medan DN sover / Stockholm media asleep on regional autonomy issues
In a series of articles, the leading daily in Western Sweden, Göteborgsposten, has interviewed a number of leading actors on the future for regional autonomy. The responsible minister Mr Sven-Erik Österberg now seems – as surprisingly as agreeable – to be in favor of regional autonomy with democratic bodies elected by the people. It’s also good that the party secretary of the Center Party, Mr Jöran Hägglund, clearifies that the Center Party wants a two chamber parliament. Mr Hägglund believes there will be 8 – 12 regions, and wants those to be able defend their autonomy in a chamber appointed by the regions. Continue reading
